I'm not good with praise (I'm much better with criticism) so if you've liked any of my poems, rather than letting me know (which will only make me uncomfortable) I would prefer it if you gave a small donation to one of these charities.
Build on Books is a small but wonderful charity which originally just sent used books that were destined for recycling off to Sierra Leone instead, to help schools there after the country's terrible civil war. They have since built bore-holes, toilets, libraries, science labs and school farms. The people who run it are incredible and the money goes directly and cleverly into building infrastructure for the future.
My eldest son was born with a cleft lip and palate. My family was supported by the Cleft Lip and Palate Association, a UK charity which provides support to families like mine. Kids with clefts face all sorts of challenges you don't think about and CLAPA helps them out.
Medicins Sans Frontieres is a charity which sends medical assistance into areas that are difficult to get care into, such as those affected by wars and epidemics. They are awesome.
